In my opinion, illustration is not just a beautiful drawing, designed to cover a blank page. I guess the most important part of the whole creative process is when the ideas are outlined. Where do you find inspiration, concepts or images for your illustrations? Do you have a purpose, a key message about important topics you wish to portray through your artwork?īasically everywhere! Movies, music, books or just everyday life are an endless mine of inspiration. The aspects that fascinate me the most are the completely original way they look at the world, the sharpness of their minds, and the experimental nature of their artistic research. Their work has been and continues to be a source of inspiration in many ways. Among them are, for example, Marcel Duchamp, Armando Testa, Paul Rend and Bruno Munari. There are many artists, illustrators as and graphic designers that I admire. Is there an artist whose work you admire? What is it about their artwork that intrigues you? Also, I took part in some illustration workshops at the Mimaster, in Milan. During this period I specialized in Graphic Design, Advertising and Multimedia. Later, I attended the Academy of Arts and New Technologies. Yes, I studied Visual Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and Salamanca. Also, I think keeping track of my work is very important because it allows me to realize if and how I'm progressing. I'm particularly fond of my early creations. Making creativity a profession was a natural choice for me.ĭo you still have any of your early artwork? I was and still am eager to discover new things all the time. I also loved to read whatever I could get my hands on. I liked to draw and paint, but mostly I enjoyed modeling and assembling objects so as to create new ones. When I was a little girl, I nagged my mother to buy me any magazine about art or DIY. I try not to generalize because each person is different.: there are bad Christians as there are good Muslims and vice versa.How old were you when first realized you wanted to become an artist?ĭeep down I think I've always known that. When it comes to me, I treat others not based on their religion, but on how they act towards others. Today, based on the current world events, more and more people are brainwashed by the mainstream media to hate the religion of Islam. Having said that, I was born to a Christian family. Even if they don’t ask directly, I feel this covert need to disclose my religion. I just hate the fact that I have to declare my religion so that others around me feel better. They ask you if you are a Christian or a Muslim so they feel a bit of relief if you have a more “positive” and “peaceful” religion. If you live in the West, some (if not many) people are Islamophobe. When I said Christian, they felt really happier and more friendly! When I mentioned Lebanon, they wanted to know if I am a Christian or a Muslim. They observed my accent and they asked me where I am from. The other day, while visiting Vancouver, BC, I was stopped by a family to take a photo. What struck me most was that on each block you would find a pizza place. Later that day, I did my best to go away from Times Square and deep into the other parts of Manhattan. People were pushing each other and were very unfriendly. Manhattan is not like what you see on TV. The trash bins were full, homeless people were everywhere and the city was very very dirty. People everywhere and there were barely room for pedestrians. Unfortunately, it was raining the most part of the day. I figured, why not, let me ride the tour bus and familiarize myself with the city. After I arrived, I left the station and found myself in the center of Manhattan. It was a pleasant 4 hours ride in the train. Back in August, while visiting Boston, I took the Saturday morning Amtrak train to the Pennsylvania Station, New York City. ![]()
